Raila Odinga Passes Away in India from Cardiac Arrest
Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga has died at the age of 80 while in India for medical care. According to hospital officials, he suffered a cardiac arrest during a morning walk on Wednesday, October 15, and was later pronounced dead at approximately 9:52 a.m. (Indian time).
Odinga had traveled to Kerala’s Ernakulam district, arriving days earlier to receive Ayurvedic treatment at a facility in Koothattukulam. He collapsed during the walk within the premises of the treatment center and was rushed to a hospital, where medical staff confirmed his death.
His family members, including his daughter, were reportedly with him in India at the time of his passing.
Earlier, Raila Odinga’s brother, Oburu Odinga, had publicly addressed rumors about his health, acknowledging that Raila was unwell and receiving treatment, but insisting he was not in a critical condition. Oburu had emphasized that the reports of severe illness were exaggerated and that his brother was recovering.
