Bongo Flava star Juma Makambala, popularly known as Juma Jux, has written a new chapter in Tanzania’s music history after winning the award for Best Male Artist in East Africa at the African Music Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), held in Lagos, Nigeria.

Jux emerged victorious in a highly competitive category, surpassing fellow Tanzanian superstars such as Diamond Platnumz, Marioo, and Mbosso. He also outshined top artists from across the East African region, including Bien (Kenya), Bruce Melodie and Element Elee’h (Rwanda), Joshua Baraka (Uganda), Sat-B (Burundi), and Yared Negu (Ethiopia).

The award comes at a significant moment in Jux’s career, as he has recently been making impressive strides in Nigeria, including hosting a major concert in Lagos that attracted a large audience. This achievement reflects the steady growth of his brand and highlights how Bongo Flava music continues to gain recognition beyond Tanzania’s borders.

The National Arts Council of Tanzania (BASATA) also congratulated Juma Jux on this remarkable achievement. The council noted that his win is a source of national pride, as he has successfully represented Tanzania and raised the country’s flag on the international African music stage.

In his acceptance speech, Jux expressed gratitude to God, his family, and fans around the world. In a touching moment, he dedicated the award to his son, Rakim.
